Marina Management Services Becomes Distributor
of Marina Management Software

Dennis P. Kissman, president of Marina Management Services, Inc., is pleased to announce that his Boca Raton, Florida-based firm has contracted with marina software developer, Pacific Softworks Limited of New Zealand, as distributor for PSL’s comprehensive Marina Management System [MMS] software. Exclusive distribution rights extend throughout the Americas, the Caribbean and Hawaii.  

“It took 10 years and a trip to Auckland to find a management tool using technologies that won’t become obsolete while Marina Operators learn to cope with the complex demands of 21st century eCommerce,” says Kissman.

MMS is a user-friendly, yet powerful program to streamline daily marina operations, increase revenues, and profit opportunities, MMS is built on the proven ‘cores’ of Microsoft® technologies — Microsoft Access 2000® and the Microsoft SQL Database® — and utilizes Windows® operating systems.

“During a decade of research, I examined ‘off-the-shelf’ software designed for marinas as well as other related industries. These programs did not really handle the variety of scenarios needed in a marina environment, and forced marina operators to abandon proven business practices to accommodate program limitations,” says Kissman. “These ‘tail-wagging-the-dog“ type programs are often costly as they include some software you don’t need or can’t use.”  

The Marina Management System is designed in modular form to provide maximum purchasing and set-up option flexibility. It can be tailored to meet any marina’s current operational and financial requirements, then enhanced with integrated modules that keep pace with the future. “Because MMS can be customized,” says Kissman, “it’s as suitable for small marinas with a single stand-alone PC, as for network environments with 100-plus workstations.”  

Established in 1989, Pacific Softworks Ltd. provides strategic planning, consulting, project management and development services for a broad customer base, including the marina and travel industries.

MMS is unique in that it is the only marina-based system capable of addressing the full spectrum of marina management operations and accounting functions. Designed in conjunction with New Zealand’s oldest and largest marina — a 2,200-slip facility — the system has been operational since December 1999. Release of Version 2.0 in November 2000 marked PSL’s expansion into the international marketplace. Subsequent modifications allow for international measurement system and global management practice disparities.

Kissman plans to unveil the product at Booth No. 35 of the 2002 National Marina and Boatyard Conference & Exhibition scheduled for October 27 - 30 at the Radisson Bahia Mar Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale. PSL Managing Director, Chris Thomas, will also be on hand with the MMS support team to conduct on-site demonstrations.
